Paul Bunyan State Trail

The trail is paved for 115 miles, and stretches between the Brainerd/Baxter area and Bemidji State Park. (The route through Bemidji is currently on-road.) Scenery includes woods, wetlands, lakes, meadows and farmland. The southern half of the trail passes through the towns of Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Pine River and Hackensack. Most of the northern portion, between Walker and Bemidji, is more secluded. The trail is used for biking, hiking, in-line skating, and in the winter, for snowmobiling.

North Shore State Trail

A continuous 146-mile multiple use trail running from Duluth to Grand Marais. Trail is primarily a snowmobile trail, but sections are suitable for summer use. Call for more information. Trail provides access to some of the most beautiful, rugged scenery in Minnesota. The trail winds through forests behind the bluffs overlooking Lake Superior. Minnesota Valley State Trail

The Minnesota Valley State Trail goes through the Minnesota Valley State Recreation Area and runs parallel to the Minnesota River. During the summers, hikers enjoy a 47 mile trails, bikers enjoy riding on the 6 miles paved section of the trail from Chaska to Belle Plaine, mountain bikers enjoy the 35 miles of trail and horseback riders enjoy their 30 miles of trail. The diverse landscapes include wetlands, floodplain forest and bluff top oak savanna.

Matthew Lourey State Trail

The Matthew Lourey State Trail is a multi-use, natural and gravel surfaced trail that spans approximately 80 miles and passes through forests linking St. Croix State Park with Chengwatana, St. Croix, and Nemadji state forests.

The entire trail is open to hiking and snowmobiling. The trail is also open to horseback riding and mountain biking; however, only sections in St. Croix State Park are managed for those uses.

Harmony Preston State Trail

Come and enjoy Minnesota hospitality, southeastern style. The paved Harmony-Preston Valley State Trail is a beautiful 18 mile long multiple use trail that connects the communities of Harmony and Preston with the existing Root River State Trail. Main summer uses are hiking, biking and in-line skating. The trail is groomed for cross country skiing in the winter.

Great River Ridge State Trail

In the beautiful southeastern Minnesota valley, this trail has picturesque views of river bluffs. Built on former railroad grade, the Great River Ridge State Trail is also a fairly easy ride.

When complete, the trail will be paved for 15 miles, and travel between the cities of Plainview and Eyota. Currently, there are 13 miles of paved trail from Plainview, south through the town of Elgin and continues on to County Road 9. Summer uses are primarily bicycling, in-line skating, and hiking.

Goodhue Pioneer State Trail - Northern Section

When complete, the Goodhue Pioneer State Trail will connect the cities of Red Wing, Goodhue, Zumbrota, Mazeppa, Bellechester, and Pine Island for a distance of 47 miles. It will be a part of a trail system that connects two very popular and well-used trails, the Cannon Valley Regional Trail in Red Wing, and the Douglas State Trail in Pine Island. In the northern segment, four miles of developed, paved trail runs from the city of Red Wing to Hay Creek, with an adjacent unpaved trail for horse use.

Gitchi-Gami State Trail

When complete, the Gitchi-Gami State Trail will connect Two Harbors to Grand Marais along the North Shore of Lake Superior. This 86 mile trial will eventually connect five state parks, several communities, four Scientific and Natural areas, numerous historic sites, and provide vistas of Lake Superior. Trail users will travel through birch and aspen forests, cross numerous cascades and waterfalls, and have the opportunity to access beaches of Lake Superior.

Douglas State Trail

A 12.5 mile blacktop trail between Rochester & Pine Island. Passes through a scenic mix of forest and the rolling fields and pastures of some of the richest agricultural land in Minnesota. Partridge & pheasant live in the woods, and toward Rochester, geese become more abundant. Little-used county roads offer opportunity to plan a circular route. Rest areas in Rochester, Douglas and Pine Island. Biking, hiking, in-line skating and horseback riding in summer. Snowmobiling in the winter.

Cuyuna Lakes State Trail

The Cuyuna Lakes State Trail is eight miles of paved trail within the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area from Crosby to Riverton. One mile passes through the City of Aitkin along State Highway 169. Abandoned by mining companies more than 35 years ago, the state recreation area contains six natural lakes, plus an additional 15 deep lakes that were former mine pits. Stop to fish or ride the new 25-mile single track mountain bike trail system.
