In January of 2022, Owner Zachery Barthel and the team went from a brewery to a full brewpub!
The decor throughout the Pub mainly came from Barthel’s family farm up north in Fort Ripley MN. Mykel, his father collected all sorts of things throughout the years and hand picked most of the horns hung throughout the pub. Everything, floor to ceiling, from the poured bar top to the stonework beneath it was all done by hands of the Nordic family. We also have the city’s longest indoor vertical log!!
We added a full bar with craft cocktails and a full kitchen/restaurant!

The News Room is an upscale casual restaurant serving an American eclectic menu. Our menu changes four times a year and also offers daily specials. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, yet each of our seven rooms is unique with respect to décor and environment. We even roast our own coffee in house. We are open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We have a very large patio that spans right down Nicollet Mall and is always open (weather permitting). We accept reservations for parties of six or more.

Naniboujou Lodge, built in 1929 is on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally intended to be a private sportsman club, it boasted members such as Babe Ruth and Jack Dempsey. Located 15 miles east of Grand Marais on Lake Superior, home cooking is served in the Cree Indian ornamented Great Hall wherein stands the majestic 200 ton stone fireplace.
