Welcome to the Walleye Capital of the World, Lake of the Woods. This picturesque area boasts the famous Lake of the Woods, Rainy River and NW Angle. Enjoy world class fishing winter, spring, summer and fall. There are 317,000 acres of user friendly Minnesota waters and millions of walleyes. The lodging community offers a nice variety of lodging, full service fishing, meal plans and everything you need for a successful trip whether being guided or fishing on your own.
In addition to walleyes, the lake boast good numbers of saugers, pike, muskies, sturgeon, smallmouth bass, jumbo perch, crappies and eelpout.
The area is full of wildlife along with thousands of acres of public hunting land. Hunters enjoy three species of grouse, a variety of waterfowl, white tailed deer, and black bears. Birders enjoy nearly 300 species of birds (some are very rare). The area can successfully accommodate both silent and motorized sports including ATV, OHV and snowmobiles with ample trails for both.
