Pine to Prairie Birding Site - Roseau Lagoons

About

The City of Roseau operates three stabilization ponds as part of its sanitary sewer system. These ponds attract a wide variety of birds, particularly waterfowl and shorebirds. Viewing birds from the road is always available. On Tuesdays, and as weather and conditions permit, the city opens the gates to the ponds to allow access to the City's compost site. Various types of waterfowl, shorebirds and gulls can be seen at the ponds. Spring (Late April to early June) and fall (September and October)migration are the best times to see extensive numbers of birds. New in 2011 the City has completed a trailhead parking/picnic area 1/8 mile north and 1/8 mile west of the lagoons on 330th Street with access to a 1 mile paved walking trail north of the lagoons and along the Roseau River. A bird watching station is located along the multipurpose trail.

Dates

Bird watching when ponds are not frozen. You can view anytime, but access inside gates is limited to TU 6am-10pm.
