About
Duluth has been called a crown jewel of Minnesota’s many precious getaway spots. A favorite source for the wild outdoors, inspiration and down-to-earth goodness on the shores of Lake Superior—with just enough places to eat outstanding food, sleep in sweet luxury and experience entertainment of the finest order.
For all its natural glory, unique culture and history, Duluth is yours to discover and interpret on your own terms. Like picking rocks along Lake Superior’s ancient shores or exploring trails that span every part of the city’s expansive outdoor wonderland. Like tasting your way through restaurants and pubs and shopping the variety of shops—whether they’re found along the charming brick-paved walks or as hidden gems off the beaten track.
At the westernmost tip of the world’s greatest lake, Duluth forms the cusp of two majestically distinct coastlines. It’s a city built on an international harbor where 1,000-foot ships glide into this romantic port under the majestic Aerial Lift Bridge. It’s a place where you can spend the night in a turn-of-the-century B&B, camp along a river or find exactly the right hotel for you in one of Duluth’s unique neighborhoods. From museums and train rides to boat tours to ballgames, there’s never a shortage of attractions to explore. And with every imaginable kind of music, the arts scene lights up the town, by day and night.
The hundreds of miles for biking and hiking are always minutes away in any direction. From the paved Lakewalk and Munger Trail to off-road biking (with chair lift) at Spirit Mountain, you’ll find it all. The internationally renowned Superior Hiking Trail spans 29 miles within city limits and continues on to Canada. It’s some of the most rugged and beautiful scenery anywhere. Terrain you could mistake for mountain foothills. Forests with trickling trout streams. Rocky bluffs, hundreds of feet up overlooking the great wide open of Lake Superior and the St. Louis River estuary—all right in the heart of the city.
So come to stretch your legs, clear your mind and breathe it in. With the endless horizon of the world’s greatest lake and the endless ways to get out and explore, it’s simple really: Duluth is good for you.
