Bring your loved ones for a "heart-filled" morning as we share delightful Valentine-themed tales perfect for young listeners and the young at heart. It’s a wonderful way to start your holiday with some free, family-friendly fun with crafts and a snack.

The Pharcyde

In the early 90’s, gangsta rap consumed the airwaves, and the majority of West Coast rappers strapped on their Locs, Chuck Taylor’s & Ben Davis’. However, The Pharcyde decidedly maintained a willfully weird vision, staying true to themselves. There, with their left field but still South-Central sensibility, rap had seen few groups so self-deprecating and so smart. Moreover, they featured four visionary rappers adroitly able to split the difference between helium-voiced and hard-core.

Holly Bowling

Solo pianist Holly Bowling is an artist who repeatedly defies convention, breaks ceilings, and eludes simplistic labels. Here, she does this while bringing virtuosic playing, emotional immersion, and a thirst for invention to everything that she does. She’s been acclaimed by Rolling Stone and has jammed with a long list of impressive company. This includes Bob Weir, Jim James, Warren Haynes, John Scofield, Branford Marsalis, and many more.

Southside Aces: A Night in New Orleans

For over two decades, Southside Aces have been playing the repertoire of the Jazz Age greats and beyond. Here, they play the early New Orleans of Jelly Roll Morton and the Chicago joys of Louis Armstrong. The evocative compositions of the young Duke Ellington to the barrel house sounds of Preservation Hall. Even the early rock and roll of Fats Domino!

Soul Asylum Acoustic at The Reif

Grammy award-winning and multi-platinum selling rock band SOUL ASYLUM started as Minneapolis’ punk younger brothers to the Replacements and Husker Dü. Their 1992 breakthrough album Grave Dancers Union featured the international hits “Runaway Train”, “Black Gold” and “ Somebody to Shove”. “Runaway Train” won a Grammy, and its groundbreaking music video brought nearly two dozen missing and exploited children and teens around the world home to their families.

Room3 in Concert

Anderson Center Presents Room3 in concert on Friday, March 6. Room3 is a jazz fusion wild card rooted in tradition yet driven by experimentation. Their sound is imaginative, melodic and rhythmically sharp, mixing elements of bebop, contemporary jazz, prog rock, funk and more. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:00 p.m.). This is an all ages show.

Luminary Walk at the Lake Superior Zoo

Bring the whole family including your leashed, friendly pup, to enjoy the trails lit with ice luminaries and the moon overhead on snowshoes. Relax by the bonfires for hot dogs, chips, cocoa & s'mores . Indoors we will have movies, contests, another fireplace, and the kids discovery room open.
