Paddle the path of the 18th century French-Canadian fur traders through Minnesota’s spectacular north country. Learn new paddling skills in 24-foot Voyageur canoes, and view spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife along the way. Explore waterfalls, hidden coves, and scenic waterways. Listen for the cry of the loon and the howl of the timber wolf, as you glide through the crystal clear waters of north country’s big lakes. Take a break from paddling to swim in clear waters or enjoy games and activities. In the evenings, share tales around the campfire with new friends.
Individuals and businesses are teaming together to bring guests an unforgettable experience as a true Crane Lake Voyageur. Fresh fish cooked over an open flame next to the crystal clean waters of our beautiful lake, a tradition brought back to life here in Crane Lake: the Voyageur Fish Fry - Saturday, July 25th. Check back to our social media for a special event that celebrates the history of the town of Crane Lake.
Join us as we honor the deep musical roots from which VocalEssence WITNESS sprang 30 years ago. Guiding you on the journey through spirituals, jazz, gospel, and soul will be homegrown artists - singers, actors, dancers - including two-time Billboard Gospel chart-topper Jovonta Patton and a special 30th Anniversary Community Choir. Continuing our commitment to include new voices on stage, the concert will include a world premiere arrangement of the spiritual "Witness" by Joel Thompson.
A triumphant program curated by SPCO violinist and soloist Eunae
Koh, showcasing three generations of Viennese composers and a violin concerto.
Surprises abound in this program curated by SPCO Principal
Horn James Ferree! Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Elegy and Polka” — not performed as
often as his other works — are excerpted arrangements from his opera Lady
Macbeth of the Mtsensk District and ballet The Golden Age. Embracing the spirit of surprise, the
program’s titular work is Franz Joseph Haydn’s delightful Symphony No. 94,
nicknamed the Surprise … no spoilers, please!
Comedy and tragedy intertwine
in this program of theatrical music including Ludwig van Beethoven’s dramatic “Coriolan”
Overture and Felix Mendelssohn’s lighthearted music for William Shakespeare’s “A
Midsummer Night’s Dream ”. Haydn’s “Il Distratto” Symphony repurposes
music from a comedic play about a gentleman so absent-minded he nearly forgets
his own wedding!
Please
join us for the seventh annual Musician Appreciation Concert! This joyful
celebration of our musicians - who enrich thousands of lives each year - is our
chance to honor them. This one-night-only program is an opportunity to spread a
little joy of your own, as all proceeds go to members of the orchestra. This
concert will showcase the exquisite talent of SPCO musicians through solo and
ensemble performances, as well as opportunities to get to know them.

Michael Barnes was born in 1969 in Michigan of the United States. He grew up outside the small town of Ithaca, where his family lived on a wooded plot in the midst of farmland. This wooded plot contained a 19th century family cemetery where he spent much of his youth playing and fostering his imagination for later ventures in his artistic life.
