World Honey Bee Day

The Waseca County History Center and the Hofmann Family will be celebrating World Honey Bee Day on Saturday, August 17 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 On site will be area honey producers, Terry McDaniel, Jason Casey-Sun Honey and Dan Strand sharing their bee keeping knowledge and selling honey related merchandise.

 Visitors can walk the restored prairie and consult with the Waseca Soil and Water Conservation Office about efforts to restore habitat for wildlife as well as pollinators. Learn what resources are available to land owners in your area.

Music on the Ship

Join us for beautiful summer evenings on the US Steel flagship vessel, the William A. Irvin, for Music on the Ship.

This free event features live music, food trucks (when available), and mocktails. It is open to the first 140 people. 
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs—bagged only. Seating is also available atop the ships' latch covers.

Movie in the Park - Back to the Future

In this 1980s sci-fi classic, small-town California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is thrown back into the '50s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), and must make sure that they fall in love or he'll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown.

Iron Riders Bicycle Challenge

Join Melanin IN Motion and the Cultural Wellness Center at Historic Fort Snelling for an Iron Riders bicycle challenge. Learn about the Twenty-Fifth Infantry, an African American regiment stationed at Fort Snelling (1882-1888), and their 1,900-mile bicycle expedition from Fort Missoula to St. Louis, Missouri (1897). The bicycle tour will start and end at Historic Fort Snelling and make numerous stops in Minneapolis and St. Paul to hear stories about the early Black leaders of Minnesota, some of whom were connected with the 25th Infantry.
