Black Morel Hootenanny – A Celebration of Wild Morels, Food, & Community!

Join us in Grand Rapids, MN, May 16-18, 2025, for a weekend of foraging, food, music, and morel madness! The Black Morel Hootenanny is an immersive event bringing together mushroom lovers, chefs, outdoor enthusiasts, and the local community to celebrate the legendary spring morel season in northern Minnesota.

Little Mermaid Cafe & Event Center

The Little Mermaid Café offers delicious home-cooked meals with free wi-fi. The Café was named after the Danish Author Hans Christian Andersen, which is fitting since the former high school building was named Hans Christian Andersen School.

Winona State University - Spring Warrior Game Day Experience

WOW! We have an ACTION packed day full of HOME Winona State Athletic events on Saturday, April 26th! Baseball, Softball, Volleyball AND Football! So many fun things to attend. Make sure to stop by the Warrior Game Day Experience on Johnson Street from 12-2pm. Inflatables, DJ, Food Trucks and Vendors. It is sure to be a great time! This event is free to attend and open to the public, please help spread the word and come cheer on our Warriors! Starting 2 hours before home football games, the Warrior Game Day Experience is an outdoor party at the intersection of Johnson and Mark streets.

Linda Powers - Open Studio Visit

The Gunflint Trail Historical Society/Artist-in-Residency Program committee is excited to announce that Linda Powers and her husband will visit the Gunflint Trail, May 18 - 23.

Linda studied Studio Art and Art History at the University of Minnesota, Morris, where she had the opportunity to work with several talented fine art professors. These experiences helped her build a strong foundation for observing the world, appreciating light and shadows, and developing the skills needed to express her artistic vision.
