Thistledew Lake Trail

18 km. Mostly expert-level trails. Located from Nashwauk 34 mi N on MN Hwy 65, then 4 mi W on Co Rd 551 to parking at Thistledew Lake Campground in George Washington State Forest. Note: This lot may not be plowed. Trail runs through forest with aspen, pine and black spruce. Shelters along trail. Winter campsites at Thistledew lakes. Maps along trail. Ski pass required.

Thistledew Campground and Day-Use Area

Located in George Washington State Forest, managed by McCarthy Beach State Park. The 23 campsites are considered "primitive," designed to furnish only the basic needs of the camper. The campsites consist of a cleared area, fire ring, and picnic table. Vault toilets, garbage cans, and drinking water are available. Thistledew Campground and Day Use Area features nature trails and water access to a great walleye and crappie lake.

Thielke Lake Wildlife Management Area

Thielke Lake is a well known home for nesting western grebes. Each spring the western grebes perform a mating display in which pairs rise up and run across the water. After chicks have hatched, they can be seen riding on the backs of their parents. Other birds in the area include great blue herons, black terns and ring-billed gulls.

Thief River Golf Club

The Thief River Falls Golf Club has eighteen breath-taking holes for the avid golfer to enjoy. Whether you golf everyday or its your first time swinging a club, you will love every minute at the Thief River Falls Golf Club. This golf course is located just outside of Thief River Falls. Prepare yourself for eighteen challenging holes of golf and enjoy the facility’s driving range and putting green. When you finish your round head into the clubhouse and shower up in one of the two locker rooms available.

Thief River Falls Waste Water Ponds

The Wastewater Treatment Ponds are home to various ducks and geese. The city has a viewing area on the west side of the ponds. A new enclosed building was completed in 2009 for sheltered viewing.

Thief River Falls Curling Club

In Northwest Minnesota, Curling has become a growing sport and the Thief River Falls Curling Club is just the place to enjoy playing this historic game. In case you are interested in the game of curling but not interested in all the ice and cold, the Thief River Falls Curling Club has two comfortable lounges, both allowing an excellent view of the curling action on the four curling rinks available in the facility. In the warmer months, the Thief River Falls Curling Club with its 2,190 square feet of concrete surface, is ideal for accommodating many various indoor events or tournaments.
