This year, our theme, ‘We Belong Together,’ invites artists, creators, and communities to explore the profound connections that bind us all—across cultures, generations, and experiences.

Power of the Press: Recipe Cards Workshop

Join the Minnesota Center for Book Arts for a free workshop on recipe cards! Recipe cards are a time-tested, excellent way to collect and share recipes. Peruse the exhibit and then print your own recipe card with staff from Minnesota Center for Book Arts. Bring a favorite recipe to copy down on one side of a provided recipe card. Then compose your recipe with wood type, ink and print on a press. Leave your recipe for someone else and take a new recipe to try!

October Hayrides at Franconia Sculpture Park

Experience autumn in Minnesota with weekend hayrides at Franconia Sculpture Park. Every Saturday & Sunday in October from 12–4 PM, enjoy a tractor-pulled ride through 50 acres of fall colors, open meadows, and larger-than-life sculptures. Perfect for families, friends, and art lovers, it’s a festive way to take in the season and see the park from a new perspective.

Needle Felted Food Fight

Have a picnic by sculpting sheep's wool and a barbed needle! Learn about humankind's oldest fabric-making technique while snack-shaped cookie cutters guide the way as you play with shape and color. Come for the Julia Child: A Recipe for Life exhibition, then stay for the workshop! The drop-in workshop will take place on the third floor from 6-7:30 pm. Feel free to drop in for the entire 90 minutes, or for as little as fifteen minutes.

Minnesota Cookie Creations

Holiday baking inspiration abounds at Mill City Museum! Join us for an afternoon of cookie sampling in the Baking Lab where guests are invited to sample three favorite recipes, prepared by Mill City Museum staff, from The Ultimate Minnesota Cookie Book: 100 Best Recipes from the Star Tribune Holiday Cookie Contest by Lee Svitak Dean and Rick Nelson. Cookies and hot cider available while supplies last. Included with site admission.
