Photo, Video and Brand Library

Explore Minnesota has an extensive library of photography and video featuring destinations across the state. We invite the Minnesota tourism industry and those promoting travel, livability or economic development across the state to use these resources to showcase Minnesota. 

Explore Minnesota is always in need of high-resolution, professional-quality images and videos of your destination. We may use your assets in a variety of ways, including but not limited to: print publications, exploreminnesota.com, social media posts, print and digital advertising, and to share with media outlets for their use in articles, blog posts and TV segments about Minnesota.

Image guidelines

• Any people pictured must be participating in activities in a safe manner. This includes wearing lifejackets in moving watercraft (including motorboats and kayaks/canoes), helmets on bikes, motorcycles and snowmobiles, and staying on designated trails (e.g. not standing behind Minnehaha Falls).
• All dogs should be leashed.
• Any and all images representing things to do in your destination are welcome. This may include events, shopping, dining, museums, theaters, outdoor activities, parks/trails, landmarks, etc.
• Professional photography is preferred. Cell phone photography is rarely used.

Photo specs and details

• High-resolution images should be at least 5x7 at 300dpi for print, or at least 3000 pixels wide and 1 MB for web. JPGs preferred. Both landscapes and verticals are desired.
• Please name the files using keywords that explain the contents of the photo. Ideal format for file name: year, season, general description (activity), attraction name, city.

• If you received the photos from someone else or hired a photographer to take them for your use, make sure you have permission to share them with us for use in our marketing efforts.
• Please include any usage restrictions and/or photo credit guidelines. For example, can they be used by Explore Minnesota only, or can they also be shared with media and other partners? Are photo credits required, or are they optional? Ideally, photos sent to Explore Minnesota should have no restrictions, can be used commercially, and not require a photographer's credit. We try to include the photographer's name when possible, but often do not when used in ads, which have limited space.

Video

• In most cases, a YouTube or Vimeo link that we can embed on our website or share with a media outlet is preferred. If we are in need of a native file, we will ask you for it specifically.
• Any drone footage needs to have proper permissions filmed by a licensed pilot for the locations filmed.

Use of your submitted assets is at Explore Minnesota's discretion and is not guaranteed. In most cases, we will be unable to seek permission and/or inform you of where and when they are being used. It is the Partner’s responsibility to have signed releases on file as appropriate for their visual assets.
