The B'nai Abraham Synagogue, built in 1909-10, was the las remaining active synagogue on the Iron Range. It was acquired in 2004 by Friends of B'nai Abraham. Under their oversight, restoration of the building is history of Virginia's Jewish community and provides a local venue for summer musical and cultural events.
Every spring we eagerly await the first sprouts and blossoms of our state’s native wildflowers, and throughout the seasons we follow their blooming south to north, east and west. Here are a few of our favorite places to visit.

The Internet Pigeon Network (IPN) is a prototype-solution for internet access infrastructure based on homing pigeons in the Gaza Strip that is resilient, scalable, less open to surveillance and destruction, works without electricity and without reliance on the Israeli backbone, as well as is affordable, community-managed and owned, and environmentally sustainable. Economically it fosters job creation and new businesses, and saves the exorbitant costs of machinery and backbone connection through Israel.
Broadway’s Bright Star tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past – and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. With beautiful melodies and powerfully moving characters, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion.
