Minnesota Unearthed

Dig into Minnesota geology and celebrate ancient history through Indigenous perspectives as the Minnesota Historical Society joins the Bell Museum for a day of family fun and activities at the Bell Museum. Throw an atlatl, learn how to make a canoe, and get to know local rocks as you chat with experts from the Minnesota Historical Society’s Jeffers Petroglyphs site and the Minnesota Geological Survey. Expect to leave with a strong foundation of Indigenous history and a head full of rocks – er, rock knowledge!

Minnesota Trivia Night

Join Trivia Mafia for a night of Minnesota themed trivia to put your knowledge to the test. Fewer than eight people recommended per team. Beer, wine, soft drinks, and snacks will be available for purchase.

Free Minnesota History Center admission and parking runs every Thursday from 4:00-8:00 pm. Trivia will take place in the Heffelfinger Room on the first floor from 6:30-8:00 pm. No registration required.

Minnesota Beethoven Festival: Minnesota Orchestra Pops Concert

Minnesota Beethoven Festival presents The Minnesota Orchestra at Winona's Lake Park Bandshell. The Minnesota Orchestra is recognized for distinguished performances in its home state and around the world, award-winning recordings and broadcasts, educational engagement programs, and commitment to building the orchestral repertoire of the future. In September 2023, the ensemble welcomed Danish conductor Thomas Søndergård as its eleventh music director. Founded in 1903, the ensemble has a long history of touring, including landmark tours to Cuba and South Africa in the past decade.

Minnesota Beethoven Festival: Minnesota Orchestra

The Grammy Award-winning Minnesota Orchestra, now in its second century, has long ranked among America’s top symphonic ensembles, with a distinguished history of acclaimed performances in Minnesota and around the world. This summer, the Orchestra will present Brahms’s Symphony No. 2 as well as Beethoven’s Romance for Orchestra and Violin.

Minnesota Beethoven Festival: Lark, Roman and Meyer Trio

Violinist Tessa Lark and cellist Joshua Roman join bassist Edgar Meyer to perform Bach and three string trios composed by Meyer. This special ensemble will present fresh interpretations of existing and new music – plus some fancy fiddling on violin, cello, and bass!

Minnesota Beethoven Festival: George Li, Piano

Praised by The Washington Post for combining “staggering technical prowess, a sense of command, and depth of expression,” pianist George Li possesses an effortless grace, poised authority, and brilliant virtuosity far beyond his years. Rapidly establishing a major international reputation, Li has been awarded the Silver Medal at the International Tchaikovsky Competition, an Avery Fisher Career Grant, and the Gilmore Young Artist Award.

Minnesota Beethoven Festival: Catalyst Quartet

Praised by The New York Times as “invariably energetic and finely burnished,” the Grammy Award-winning Catalyst Quartet was founded by the internationally acclaimed Sphinx Organization in 2010. The ensemble is redefining and reimagining the classical music experience through their projects, and they bring a program of Saint-Georges, Tailleferre, and Beethoven to Winona the summer.
