Books From Our Shelves: Across America on an Emigrant Train

Join the Dakota County Historical Society for our monthly book club, "Books From Our Shelves." Each book selected relates to an aspect of Minnesota history.

June's book is "Across America on an Emigrant Train," by Jim Murphy.

This book follows an account of Robert Louis Stevenson's twelve day journey from New York to California in 1879. Interwoven throughout the story is a history of the building of the transcontinental railroad and the settling of the West.

Bold & Cold Winter Festival

Why not be BOLD during the coldest month of winter and come out and experience the COLD at our Annual Bold & Cold Winter Festival in Owatonna, MN! Stay tuned for event activities!
This weekend celebration has events and activities that are designed to highlight the Minnesota psyche of "cold noses and warm hearts."

Boeing, Boeing

It's the 60's and Bernard, a bachelor, has a flat in Paris where he rendezvous and is engaged to three stewardesses. Up until now, he has been able to keep his secret without them knowing; however, his happy and "perfect" set-up is about to come crashing down as a new, faster Boeing jet throws off his precise planning and all three stewardesses arrive in town at the same time.

Bob Marley's Three Little Birds

Ziggy's afraid to leave the house. He's too busy worrying about tropical storms, evil spirits, and a sneaky, freaky, hair-grabbing Duppy! But, with the help of some feathered friends, Ziggy learns "every little thing is gonna be alright." A musical that jams Jamaican style, it's a timeless tale of peace and love, and of course, Bob Marley, man.
