Way of the Wilderness offers the best circle route location with access to both the paddle only portion of Seagull Lake and the Canadian Border lake, Saganaga.

The tallgrass prairie, cattail marsh, and wet meadow of Waubun Wildlife Management Area offer great opportunity to view Northern Harrier, greater Prairie-Chicken, Yellow Rail, Sandhill Crane, and prairie sparrows. Rails may not be present during dry years. Waterproof footgear is recommended.
