Wargo Nature Center

Wargo Nature Center is an outdoor learning center designed to be used by the entire community. Ride out to us on the bike trail and visit our beautiful natural areas and visitors' center. Here you will find many gardens and bird feeders. Hike our mowed trails through the woods of the peninsula. Wargo is surrounded on three sides by George Watch Lake, which is part of the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes. Of course, you will always find experienced and friendly staff to answer any of your questions.

Warden's House Museum

The Warden's House is a 14-room house constructed for the Wardens of the Minnesota Territorial Prison in 1853. Today, the museum houses artifacts from the lumbering industry, early Washington County pioneers, and of course, the Old Stillwater Territorial/State Prison including items made and used by the infamous Younger Brothers of the Frank and Jesse James Gang.

Stillwater's only museum, the Warden's House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and opened as a house museum in 1941.

We have 8 taps to choose from. IPA, Kolsch, Cream Ale, Red Ale, Belgian Abbey and a double Belgian ummm! Oatmeal Stout on nitro an EPA, and a seasonal alternated in from time to time!

Wannigan Point Cabins

Wannigan Point Cabins are 5 newly remodeled log sided cabins, with knotty pine interiors, and a full kitchen. We offer a "Honeymoon Suite" that includes a Jacuzzi tub. Located just north of Scenic Taylors Falls, close to the St Croix River, two state parks, near ski areas, and water parks. Come join us in Beautiful Taylors Falls.

Wanda Gag House

The Wanda Gag House was the childhood home of Wanda Gag, noted children’s author and illustrator. Wanda’s most well-known book was Millions of Cats. Constructed in 1894 by Wanda's father, Anton, this Queen Anne style home has been carefully restored to its original design, color and decoration. On display are lithographs, drawings, and paintings by Wanda Gag, paintings by Anton Gag and Flavia Gag, another of the talented children. Books created by Wanda and Flavia are also on display. Books, reproductions and other articles are available for purchase.

Walter E. Stark Horse Campground

The campsites consist of a cleared area, fire ring, and picnic table. Vault toilets, garbage cans, and hand water pumps are available. Also available are permanent "picket lines" and manure bunkers. All sites are on a first come, first served basis.
Highlights: The campgrounds provide access to 27 miles of riding trails and a parking area for day use. The campground is managed by Crow Wing State Park.
