Stearns County Polar Plunge

Special Olympics Minnesota will be hosting the Stearns County Polar Plunge on February 21. All community members are encouraged to register. Add your friends and family to your team. Fundraise a minimum of $75 to brave the plunge and support Special Olympics Minnesota.

The Sound of Gospel©, (SOG) a Black History Month celebration presented by 2nd Chance Outreach, shines a light on the artistry, spirituality, and storytelling at the heart of gospel music. People of all ages are welcome to attend this soul-stirring and uplifting staged production that celebrates and honors Black History Month through the soundscape of African American history and spiritual resilience. The show takes the audience on an expansive historical musical journey featuring musical style.

Press Play: Free Open House

Press Play is an annual open house that invites participants of all ages to experience letterpress printing and book arts through hands-on activities in MCBA’s studios! Embrace spontaneity and play while letterpress printing with wood and bamboo type on our fun and portable Provisional Presses. Contribute to a community collage poem, and make a print to take home with you! Activities are designed for beginners, experienced makers, and families. Free and open to the public!

Maple Syrup Festival

In a time honored tradition spanning 80+ years, join the Saint John's Abbey Arboretum and Outdoor University in a maple tapping festival! Sap collecting, syrup cooking, demonstrations, and hot maple syrup sundaes await the whole family!

Maple Grove Polar Plunge

The Polar Plunges are annual events organized by Special Olympics Minnesota; an organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities. Plunge participation helps make a significant difference in supporting these athletes. Those who fundraise for their Polar Plunge get the chance to jump into a lake (i.e. Maple Grove - Fish Lake). If you fundraise, you are not required to jump. The event is open to the public to cheer on and support plungers! Volunteers are welcome!

Luminary Hikes

Join Outdoor U in a community celebration of winter with an illuminated walk across Lake Sagatagan to the Stella Maris Chapel. There is no registration and no fees, but donations in support of Outdoor U programming on campus and in the community are welcome and encouraged.
