Intro to Linocut Printing Class

During this class, students will design and carve a linoleum block to create a unique, handcrafted print. The process begins with brainstorming and sketching a bold, high- contrast design, which is then transferred onto a linoleum block. Students will learn to use specialized carving tools to carefully remove sections of the block, creating a relief surface for printing. Once the carving is complete, they will explore inking techniques using a brayer and practice hand-printing methods with a baren or wooden spoon.

Intro to Cyanotype on Canvas Class

Explore the historic photographic process of cyanotypes! This vibrant technique uses the power of the sun to expose detailed prints on surfaces. Students will first be introduced to the method of cyanotype by creating 3 small canvas patches. This will allow for experimentation with exposure times, composition, and objects to print with. These handmade patches can be taken home to use on another project later. Students will then complete their final cyanotype print on a 11.5" x 10.5" canvas banner. A variety of rawhide lace colors will be provided for hanging.
