MDC Summer Concert Series

Ready for an unforgettable concert experience? Our amphitheater, at the Minnesota Discovery Center in Chisholm, is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the Iron Range. Surrounded by breathtaking red rock mining landscapes and with 1,800 seats—salvaged straight from the old Met Stadium in St. Paul—it’s not just a venue, it’s a piece of history. The Mesabi Tribune named us Best Live Entertainment Spot and Best Venue two years in a row—2024 and 2025!

Downtown Art Fair

Over forty regional artist vendors will be on site from 9 am to 4 pm displaying and selling artwork including painting, glass, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, photography, and more. Food vendors Singing Chihuahua Tacos and Borealis Creamery will be serving at the event. Live music will be featured throughout the day starting at 10 am. Playing jazz and big-band music, the Grand Rapids Community Big Band will bring their music to the stage from 10 am to 12 pm . Local favorite and renowned guitarist, Sam Miltich, will perform from 1 to 3 pm.

Abolitionists of Southeast Minnesota at Sibley

In the decades preceding the US Civil War, abolitionists from the Eastern states moved westward to prevent the spread of slavery into the “free” territory. Among the early American settlers in Minnesota during the 1850s were these dedicated abolitionists. Some were radical activists involved in the Underground Railroad before making their home here.

First Avenue, Jam, and The Current present Death Cab for Cutie: I Built You A Tower World Tour with Jay Som at The Armory on Friday, July 10. This is an all ages show. Doors are at 6pm and show starts at 7:30pm.

Formed in Bellingham, WA in 1997, Death Cab for Cutie almost immediately entered the ranks of the era's definitive bands, fueled in large part by the remarkable power of co-founder, vocalist, guitarist, and lead songwriter Benjamin Gibbard's complex, often bittersweet songcraft.

Wambolts Cabins 125th Anniversary Celebration

For 125 years, families have gathered at Wambolts Cabins on Upper Bottle Lake to experience the simple magic of Minnesota lake life.

Founded in 1899, with the first guests arriving in 1901, Wambolts is one of Minnesota’s historic family resorts, where generations of families have gathered for classic “Up North” experiences — fishing at sunrise, afternoons on the dock, bonfires by the lake, and time together in the Northwoods.

Tom Page Art Show

Join us on Saturday, April, 18th from 2-6 as the creative class convenes for its fourth show at Klockow Gallery. There will be approximately 40 works of art exhibited.
