Artist Talk with Glassblower Cedric Mitchell

Join Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts for an visiting artist lecture by Cedric Mitchell, a Los Angeles-based glass artist. Cedric’s artistic expression draws inspiration from a captivating blend of Modern Design, Graffiti Art, Streetwear Fashion, and Memphis Milano, giving rise to a captivating array of works that span from functional masterpieces to decorative art, adorned with vivid palettes and effortlessly refined designs.

Artist Reception for Catherine Meier

Come and meet Catherine Meier at the Tettegouche Visitor Center and view her latest work based on the Lake Superior shoreline. Catherine will speak about her art and be available for questions and discussions from 7 to 8:30 pm. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Tettegouche.Catherine Meier strives to create in visual artistic form artworks that speak to intricate, beautiful, and unseen understandings of land and place. In the end, she makes drawings and moving images that create spaces of quiet, deep stillness.

Artist Meet & Greet: Opening Reception & Dig This Soil Health Panel

This panel discussion will focus on the current understanding of soil from a variety of perspectives. Artists, scientists and cultural representatives will discuss the importance of soil health and offer practical information that will benefit humans and the environment.

Art in the Park 2025

Join us for a one-of-a-kind shopping experience at Monticello's Art in the Park, where creativity comes to life along the beautiful banks of the Mississippi River. This juried art and craft fair features talented vendors showcasing unique, hand-crafted treasures you won’t find anywhere else. From stunning artwork and home decor to jewelry and gifts, there’s something for everyone to discover.

Myre-Big Island State Park Candlelight Event

Come by the office to purchase a state park permit and head to the picnic grounds parking lot. Walk the candlelit loop to Big Island Campground and back, about a mile. Warm up in the picnic shelter with a cookie and punch or water by a crackling fire.

The event is free, however each vehicle needs to have a state park permit. $7 for a day permit or $35 for an annual sticker.

Maplewood State Park Candlelight Trek

Come enjoy an evening in the park by candlelight and moonlight. Hike, snowshoe, or ski the 1-mile trail around Cataract Lake where you will be guided by the almost full moon, and lanterns. The 1.5-mile Hallaway Hill trail will also be illuminated for hikers and snowshoers. Once you have trekked to your hearts content, come warm up by the campfire or enjoy chili and desserts and refreshments in the Trail Center or Picnic Shelter. All provided by the Friends of Maplewood.

Jay Cooke State Park Candlelight Ski, Snowshoe & Walk

Ski, snowshoe, or hike on trails lit by luminaries. Warm up by the fire afterwards with some hot cocoa. Stop in anytime during this ongoing event. Adult and children's snowshoes available to rent.

Where to Meet: Meet at the River Inn Visitor Center.

Dress for the weather. Bring your own refillable mug for hot beverages if you wish to reduce waste. Both indoor and outdoor fires will be available if you wish to bring your own items to roast.

Full Moon Snowshoe Hike

Step into a winter wonderland on a moonlit snowshoe hike! Join us for a 3-mile round-trip adventure to the historic Glen Location, where our expert guides will lead the way, sharing fascinating stories and pointing out local history and nature along the trail. Afterward, we’ll cozy up around a crackling bonfire at the Thompson Homestead to enjoy hot cocoa and roast the perfect s’mores.
