Itasca Rock Garden

In 1925, John L. Christensen set out to construct a small vegetable cellar. While digging he and his wife began to notice the beauty in the multi-colored stones. Using his team of horses, the excavation grew to what is now Itasca Rock Garden.

The site was recently renovated by the Kohler Foundation with more than $500,000 being put into the house, structures and gardens. While the gardens are new as of 2023 with some yet to be planted, the structures, including a large castle, are magnificent.
