The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra: Frank’s Sandbox Premiere

Experience the culmination of a multi-year collaboration
between SPCO Sandbox Composer-in-Residence Gabriela Lena Frank, poet and
librettist J. Drew Lanham, the SPCO and The Great Northern: a world premiere
for baritone and chamber orchestra in which Frank grapples with the complicated
legacy of the celebrated 18th century ornithologist John James Audubon in
context of our ongoing ecological crisis — all through the imagery of birds.

Grande dames Grace Dunbar and Catherine Green prepare for the Nacirema Society’s 1964 centennial cotillion — the event of the season in Montgomery, Alabama. The elegant African American debutantes include Grace’s granddaughter Gracie, escorted by Catherine’s grandson Bobby, and the two grandmothers hope the young couple will soon be engaged. But Gracie and Bobby have other ideas. As the young ladies prepare for their debuts, a blackmail scheme brews behind the scenes and subterfuges unfold, all under the nose of a skeptical reporter covering the ball.

Cannon River Fur Trade Rendezvous

The fur trade was an essential part of the 18th and 19th century history of the region that was to become the State of Minnesota. The Cannon River Rendezvous is a re-enactment of a fur trade encampment during that period. Characters and activities of the time are portrayed by over 150 re-enactors in historically accurate attire and tent camps. Enjoy music, food, demonstrations, contests, vendors, and games. Beautiful, patriotic Memorial Day service. Fun for the entire family.

Tracy's Annual Box Car Days is the town's festival that is always held over Labor Day Weekend in the town of Tracy. Events include a Mud Volleyball Tournament, Golf Tournament, Horseshoes, Softball Tournament, Bean Bag Tournament, and Carnival on the Midway with rides, games, and food for all to enjoy! Music entertainment is nightly, and don't forget the Labor Day Parade on Monday, which starts at 1 pm. The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra: Mozart’s 40th Symphony with Dmitry Sinkovsky

"Bounding with talent and oozing charisma" (“Pioneer Press”),
violinist and conductor Dmitry Sinkovsky returns to the Twin Cities this spring
to lead the SPCO in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's famed 40th symphony. The dramatic
passion of the symphonic work makes for a stunning finale of a concert
featuring Baroque works by Mozart's predecessors, George Frideric Handel and
Antonio Vivaldi.

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra: Bruch and Korngold with Tabea Zimmermann

Artistic Partner Tabea Zimmermann teams up with Principal Clarinet Sang
Yoon Kim in a double concerto full of rhapsodic, Romantic flourish and lush
harmonies that intertwine with the sound of the full orchestra. Dedicated to
his son, clarinetist Max Felix Bruch, Max Bruch’s Double Concerto promises to
grip and transfix audiences alongside smaller symphonic works by Germanic
composers.
