Pipestone Performing Arts Center

The Pipestone Performing Arts Center is located in the heart of Pipestone's Historic District. The Center is housed in a Sioux quartzite building which dates back to 1897.

The Calumet Players offer great community theater with shows directed, managed, and acted out by local or area talents. They produce three shows a year, generally a mid-winter event, fall event and a summertime musical. The Children's Theater produces one show per year with local youth entertaining all theater goers.

Pipestone National Monument

Pipestone National Monument -- home of the historic Pipestone quarries, beautiful tallgrass prairie, and the majestic Winnewissa waterfall.
The pipestone quarries have been visited for centuries by American Indians to acquire the red pipestone used to craft pipebowls for their sacred ceremonial pipes.

Pipestone County Museum

The Pipestone County Museum is a professionally operated facility presenting the area's history in a range of interpretive exhibits. The Museum has four exhibit galleries on two floors focusing on Pipestone County history and happenings. Regional geology and botany are apparent in several large murals throughout the Museum. Early settlement is represented including a scale replica of the first claim shanty in the country, as well as Native American artifacts. The exhibit galleries are on a rotating schedule, so call ahead for specific topics.
