Uppgaard WMA

The 110 acres of gently rolling woods and wetlands of the Uppgaard Wildlife Management area offer great habitat for white-tailed deer, western painted turtles, ruffed grouse, blue heron, broad-winged hawks, and summer butterflies. There is a mixture of coniferous and deciduous forest, two small lakes, meadow, and marshland.

Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam

The National Park Service began operating the St. Anthony Falls Visitor Center in spring of 2016 to provide tours and interpretation to the public after the closure of the lock in 2015. The observation deck at the Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam Visitor Center provides spectacular views of the falls, the iconic Stone Arch Bridge, and the surrounding milling district of downtown Minneapolis.

Upper Red Lake Area Assoc

Not only does the Upper Red lake Area offer outstanding fishing but the fact that the small burg of Waskish in nestled between the Pine Island State Forest and the Lost River State forest makes for some outstanding hunting and camping opportunities.

Whether you are looking for the Whitetail Deer of a lifetime, a covey of Ruffed Grouse, waterfowl hunting in the river bottoms, huge Black Bear in the timber, Woodcock in the ash swales or a good rabbit or coyote hunt, the Upper Red Lake area has miles upon miles of public hunting areas just waiting to be explored.

Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge

The Refuge covers about 240,000 acres of floodplain in a stretch of 261 river-miles from Wabasha, MN to Rock Island, IL. The Refuge is known for spectacular fall colors and migrating waterfowl. Tundra swans are spectacular in mid-November. Bald eagles have over 200 nests on the refuge and number over 3,000 during the spring migration in March. Camping, canoe trails, hunting, fishing and wildlife observation are available. The Upper Mississippi Wildlife Refuge office is located in Winona and is open Monday-Friday 7:30 - 4:00 p.m. and closed on Federal Holidays.
